Compound quality is the variable most owners underestimate, and the one that quietly invalidates everything else. Here is how to evaluate a supplier properly.
The short answer
Peptides in this category are sold as research compounds, not veterinary medicines. Evaluate a supplier on four things: third-party batch testing with a certificate of analysis you can actually see, mass spectrometry identity confirmation rather than purity alone, stated net peptide content rather than vial weight, and accurate legal labelling. Administering any of these to a dog requires veterinary supervision under AMDUCA regardless of where the vial came from.
What to check before buying
The meaningful question is not whether a supplier tests, but whether you can see the result for the vial you are buying. A certificate of analysis tied to a batch number, from an independent laboratory, is the standard. A generic purity claim on a product page is marketing copy and tells you nothing about what is in your vial.
HPLC purity tells you what fraction of the material is a single compound. Mass spectrometry confirms that the compound is the one on the label. A vial can be 99% pure and still be the wrong peptide. Suppliers publishing both are demonstrating something suppliers publishing neither are avoiding.
Lyophilised vials contain the peptide plus residual salts and water. A vial labelled 5 mg may contain meaningfully less actual peptide. Suppliers who state net peptide content are giving you the number your dosing calculation actually depends on.
Lyophilised peptides are reasonably robust but not indifferent to conditions. A supplier who cannot describe how product is stored and shipped is a supplier who has not thought about it.
Research compounds should be labelled as research compounds. A supplier making therapeutic claims about animal use is either uninformed about the regulatory position or unconcerned by it, and neither is reassuring about the rest of their operation.
Anonymity is common in this market and is a genuine signal. A supplier who can be contacted and held accountable behaves differently from one who cannot.

A supplier stating that a compound treats, cures, or is safe for a condition in dogs is making a claim no supplier is in a position to make. It indicates either ignorance of the regulatory position or indifference to it.
Purity claims with no certificate behind them
"99% pure" printed on a product page is a number, not evidence. Ask for the certificate of analysis for the batch you are buying. A supplier who cannot produce one is telling you something.
Pricing far below the market
Peptide synthesis and analytical testing have real costs. A price substantially below everyone else usually means one of them has been skipped, and testing is the cheaper corner to cut.
No identifiable business behind the storefront
No address, no company name, no support channel that reaches a person. If something goes wrong with a batch there is no one to raise it with, and nothing to stop the same batch continuing to sell.
