  1. 1Week 1Testing and conservative start

    What owners observe

    MDR1 testing must be complete before the first ivermectin dose. Give both drugs with a fatty meal — each is highly lipophilic and absorption depends on it. Watch for neurological signs.

    Clinical monitoring

    Baseline CBC, liver panel, chemistry. Fenbendazole 50 mg/kg/day for three consecutive days then four off. Ivermectin from 0.3 mg/kg/day.

    What owners observe

    Watch specifically for pale gums, lethargy, or appetite loss — these can indicate bone marrow suppression and warrant immediate attention rather than waiting for the next scheduled check.

    Clinical monitoring

    Repeat CBC at weeks 2 and 4 to monitor for pancytopenia. Liver values should remain stable. Ivermectin may titrate toward 0.6 mg/kg if tolerated.
